New York City naval architect Morris M. Whitaker was a leading regional designer of power yachts when his practice was active in the early 1900s. He was educated at Yale and studied naval architecture at Cornell and attended the London College of Diesel Engineering. He was active in several important aspects of WW I ship construction. He designed yard for Subchaser construction and also designed manufactureing facilites producing marine life saving equipment for the Emergency Fleet Corporation. These details are according to a Motor Boat article 25, June 1920 stating Whitaker has joined the naval architectural firm of Tams, LeMoine and Crane. In 1955, Whittaker's extant plans were presented to MIT's Hart Nautical Museum by fellow NY naval architect Henry M. Devereux.
