The Museum is pleased to announce that Sasha Wallinger was named the Director of Marketing and Communications, her tenure began in October 2024.

Located in the Kendall Square neighborhood of Cambridge, MA, known as “the most innovative square mile on the planet,” the MIT Museum has named Sasha Wallinger as its inaugural Marketing and Communications Director.

A globally recognized leader at the intersection of art, culture and technology, Wallinger joins the institution from Blockchain Style Lab, where she served as founder and CEO. In that role, she guided top-tier brands, cultural organizations, thought-leaders and start-ups, developing their branding and audience development strategies.

Her previous roles include Chief Marketing Officer at Superplastic, where she helped pioneer the SUPERGucci NFT and Head of Strategy at Journey, where she led their inaugural Web3 Strategy studio. She will continue to explore how emerging technology is transforming brand engagement and commerce as a contributor to Forbes' CMO Network. Wallinger’s innovative leadership in marketing and communications has earned her multiple accolades, including recognition from the CMO Network, RETHINK Retail’s Top Expert, Coresight Research’s AI Influencer, and 100 Women of the Future to name a few.

“We are delighted to welcome Sasha to lead marketing and communications at the MIT Museum. Her leadership will be instrumental in bridging virtual and physical audiences as we bring people together to explore the big questions facing humanity, drawing on the extraordinary intellectual resources of MIT,” said Michael John Gorman, The Mark R. Epstein (Class of 1963) Director of the MIT Museum

An award-winning leader of audience growth and development, Sasha is thrilled to join the MIT Museum to develop a strategic, multimedia plan that will elevate its global profile both as a physical destination and as a thought leader in public science communication. As the Museum’s Chief Branding Officer, she will refine and evolve its brand identity over time and while ensuring consistency in look and tone. She has already begun collaborating with Pentagram, the renowned design agency behind the Museum’s 2023 brand identity.

In her role, Sasha will oversee public relations, campaigns, graphic design, photography, and other creative services while also support the marketing and communications efforts of the Museum’s subsidiary programs, including the MIT Museum Compton Studio, Hart Nautical Gallery, Cambridge Science Festival, the Science Festival Alliance, and the Nord Anglia Collaborative. She will also work closely with stakeholders across MIT, the City of Cambridge and the global STEAM community.
