Weekly guided tours offered every Wednesday at 11am, offered free with museum admission.

Other Policies

  • Youth, ages 14 and over are allowed to visit unaccompanied during non-school hours.
  • Backpacks, suitcases, and other large bags are not permitted in our galleries. We offer a limited number of complimentary self-service lockers; however, we encourage visitors not to bring large bags or backpacks when visiting the museum.

The MIT Museum Store is open daily 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM


Directions

The MIT Museum is conveniently located next to the MBTA Kendall/MIT Inbound subway train stop in the mixed-use office building located at 314 Main Street. Our entrance is at the side of the building directly across from the MIT Welcome Center.

Public Transportation

Subway:
Take the MBTA Red Line to the Kendall/MIT station

Bus:
The 64, 68, and 85 lines stop near the MIT Museum. The #1 bus stops on Massachusetts Avenue, about a 15-minute walk.

Car:
Parking in Cambridge and Boston can be expensive and hard to find. Whenever possible, we suggest you use public transportation or a taxi/rideshare service. For rates and locations of garages in the area, please check online.

Parking

For easy, close parking, the Hayward Garage has entrances located at the corner of 33 Amherst Street and Hayward Street, about a block away from the Museum, as well as 55 Wadsworth Street. There are two surface-level exits within line of sight of the Museum entrance. Rates vary depending on time of day. If you have questions about parking at the Hayward Garage or want to prepay for your guests, you can contact the garage at 617-500-6553.

The Hart Nautical Gallery is open daily 10:00am-4:30pm. Advance appointments are required on weekends when the MIT campus is closed to general access. Please contact our Visitor Experience Team at least 24 hours prior to your intended visit to schedule.
