Description

A seascape with a whale hunt and several boats and ships; at right, three whaling boats surround a spouting whale, which, rolling over, has harpoons or arrows stuck in its side; at left, anther whale has been brought ashore, and is about to be gutted, etc; at far left, barrels - presumably full of blubber - are rolled away.

Inscription Content: Lettered "Corpora dum gaudent immania tollere Cetae/Sic varijs tells varijs feriuntur aristis." Translation: "When whales raise their vast bellies (above the water) they are thus smited with different kinds of weapons and missiles."
