Description

Central Scientific Company, a manufacturer and distributor of scientific instruments was founded in 1900 in downtown Chicago. They began as a mail order business of pedagogical scientific equipment, and sold their products to schools, colleges, and universities. In the 1930s, the company began to sell equipment for industrial laboratories, though they still remained focused on the educational market. By 1965, they were one of the largest suppliers of scientific instruments in the world.
