Description

The Baldwin Lima Hamilton Corporation was formed in 1950 from a merger of the Baldwin Locomotive Works and the Lima-Hamilton Corporation. This merger also marked their shift away from locomotives and towards industrial equipment like strain gages. In 1955, the company purchased Ruge-deForest Inc., the company founded by MIT’s Arthur C. Ruge (one of the inventors of the strain gage in 1937) to manufacture strain gage equipment. The company is now known as the Vishay Precision Group.
