Description

Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT, Flowers came to the Institute as a graduate student in the 1960s earning his SM degree 1968; MEng degree in 1971; and PhD in 1973. A major innovator in Design and Engineering Education, Flowers pioneered the famous 2.70/2.007 course as well the concept "Gracious Professionalism." He also helped found the FIRST Robotics Competition. His own research focused especially on the creation of prosthetics for above-the-knee amputees.
