Nathanael G. Herreshoff was one of the leading yacht designers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. After completing his studies at MIT, he worked for the Corliss Steam Engine Co. before joining his brother, John B., as a partner in the Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. Nathanael was the firm’s primary designer. His work included five winning America’s Cup yachts, some of the earliest US Navy torpedo boats, and dozens of innovative, lasting sailing yachts.
