John Morse Ordway was an American chemist who worked as an industrial chemist before coming to MIT as a professor of Metallurgy and Industrial Chemistry (1869-1884). He also served as the department head of the Chemistry department from 1869 to 1884, Chairman of the Faculty from 1880 to 1882, and was an MIT Corporation Life Member from 1866 to 1869. He left MIT to become a professor of Biology at Tulane University, New Orleans from 1885 to 1909.
