in the Maker Hub

Join us in the Maker Hub and dive into the creativity and fun of design and engineering through a variety of hands-on making and tinkering explorations.

Activities can take 20-60 minutes to complete, but stay for as little or long as you like. Free with admission, the Maker Hub is open weekdays from 2:30-4:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-4:30pm.

Take a look at the activities we bring to the Maker Hub, then check out our Week-at-a-Glance calendar to see what we're planning on the day of your visit.

Balance Sculptures

Mess around with balance and explore the center of gravity as you create and assemble your own mobile.

Automata

Explore and experiment with mechanical motion as you create your own moving art. Along the way, discover how simple mechanisms like cams, linkages, and levers work to generate different types of movement.

Paper Circuits

Learn how to wire a circuit and explore electricity as you create your own light-up card, paper sculpture or other illuminated object.

Chain Reaction

Explore gravity, the transfer of energy, and more as you play with physics while assembling your own chain reaction contraption.

Bioplastic

Explore biomaking sustainable plastics. Experiment with different formulas to create your own colorful string from seaweed-derived polymers. This activity is supported by the Biogen Foundation.
