The Webb Telescope: A New Era in Astronomy

The museum is excited to offer another look at the extraordinary breadth and depth of the James Webb Telescope program.

Hear from Jane Rigby, an astrophysicist and JWST operations project scientist who will explain how astronomers use advanced telescopes, share a few stories about how the Webb started working, and talk about the people who made this landmark event a reality. Rigby’s introduction will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by MIT Professor David Kaiser and featuring major users of JWST in its first year of operations.

Afterwards, guests are invited to a reception with a special JWST-themed IPA from Cambridge’s Lamplighter Brewery, and stargazing with telescopes in MIT’s Open Space directly behind the museum. (unfortunately due to weather, stargazing has been cancelled).
