Tanglewood Master Development Plan

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

“Newly acquired property prompted the Boston Symphony Orchestra to engage Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell to prepare a planning and land use study for Tanglewood, the Symphony's summer home. Led by consulting Principal, William Porter, CLHS recommended the site for the Seiji Ozawa Concert Hall and locations of the accompanying grass parking areas, food service and site infrastructure. The development potential for other areas was also assessed. As a result of the study, CLHS was retained to prepare a detailed plan for the development of the site that would maintain and enhance the fine landscape character of the Tanglewood campus. CLHS oversaw the implementation of the plan and designed numbers of the landscape improvements, including entrance gates, a road and parking system, walking paths, utility installation, and new plantings. The firm also designed eight new service buildings located throughout the landscape.”
