Charlottesville Urban Design Plan

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

“Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell, working with Warren Boeschenstein AIA, was commissioned by the City of Charlottesville to develop an urban design plan for the downtown, the corridor linking the downtown with the University of Virginia campus and the four main entrance corridors to the City. A series of public forums involved a broad cross-section of citizens in the urban design process. As a result of the study, a new municipal center and plaza are being planned; the City is developing new parking facilities; and a series of changes have been made to the City's zoning regulations to allow the City greater control over development of important corridors.”
