Bush Terminal Open Space

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

“As consultants to the landscape architects Johansson & Walcavage, Carr, Lynch and Sandell collaborated on the design for Bush Terminal Piers Open Space, a 23-acre waterfront park in Brooklyn, NY. The park transformed the existing contaminated landfill into a much-needed community open space to include recreational and cultural facilities, promenades, pier boardwalks, and naturalistic areas for environmental education. The design aimed to reflect the site's maritime history and to highlight the site's spectacular views and picturesque pier ruins, while preserving an existing small urban forest as a bird sanctuary.”
