Copley Square Competition Entry

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

"The Carr Lynch entry was a simple form, fitting what people want to do in this space. From the center, the space opens out to two key buildings: Trinity Church and the Boston Public Library. Paths follow the desired lines of movement and the ground is level with no barriers to sight. Triangular bosques to each side offer shade and generous seating for resting, eating, watching the action, and enjoying the linear fountain on the Boylston Street side. Accommodation is made for street vendors and rain shelter. The design was awarded one of four honorable mentions. The other entry, very similar in form, was the winner."
