Hearthstone Plaza and Pedestrian Bridge

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

"Intended to be a larger complex of public buildings at the intersection of Route 9 and Harvard Ave, only one 140,000 sq. ft. building was constructed, containing offices, a cinema, retail spaces and a 200-car garage clustered around a courtyard leading to a pedestrian bridge over Route 9. The bridge was also intended to be part of a larger urban complex, but was reduced to a simple bridge ending in a ramp to the street. The bridge does create sheltered bus stops, and creates a landmark for travelers. The Hearthstone Plaza Building is possibly now a part of the Massachusetts College of Art." From "Imre Halasz, Anthony Halasz", by Gaspar and Timon, 2002.
