Longwood Medical and Academic Area Urban Design Study

Description
“Carr, Lynch and Sandell, Inc., working with Gary Hack Urban Design, LLC, MJ Daly Consulting and Gamble Associates, was engaged by the Planning and Design Department of the Medical Science and Academic Community Organization (MASCO) for a fast-paced, substantive urban design study. MASCO oversees the development of the dynamic, dense and heavily-trafficked 2.3 acre Longwood Medical area. The initial phase of the '30-year Urban Design Transportation Vision' analyzed existing conditions, synthesized previous MASCO studies, and studied shortto- long term solutions for improving the congested conditions on the streets. Goals included making the roads safe for multi-modal users, enhancing the experience of the public realm and the introduction of traffic calming measures. The CLS team prepared discussion-provoking power point presentations to illustrate the data, spark imaginations and raise awareness of the need for all stakeholders to collaborate on the current and future issues.”
