Lowell Plan: “Building upon previous work done on the Lowell Heritage State Park, Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell undertook a planning and design study for the Lowell Plan, a private non-profit agency working to improve the City. CLHS's approach was to utilize the existing infrastructure and facilities in the downtown historic district to create an area where art and entertainment activities could be centered and integrated into commercial and residential life. The district would encourage the development of the cultural life of the City and related economic growth, bringing together various cultural institutions to work toward this common goal.”
Vandenburg Esplanade: "Carr, Lynch Associates designed this two-acre park for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management to complete the Vandenburg Esplanade along the Merrimack River in Lowell. The park combines rolling lawns, a curving path with a straight one at the river wall, and a rich palette of evergreen and deciduous plantings to create summer and winter interest and to screen the park from the adjacent arterial. The open spaces were designed primarily for passive uses, but they are large enough to allow for informal family play."
