Paul Revere Park

Contact us about this architectural site

Description

“Paul Revere Park, the first of the New Charles River Basin, opened to accolades in the summer of 1999. The design centers on a large multiuse oval lawn framed by extensive perennial beds. At the Charlestown end of the oval is a simple grass stage for informal performances. A serpentine ramp and stairs, flanking a stone overlook tower, connect the

park to the revived City Square in Charlestown and a walkway across the new dam and locks connects to the Boston Garden arena and downtown Boston. The design process included coordination with a complex network of participants: the Central Artery Tunnel Project, Massachusetts Highway Department, a Citizens Advisory Committee, and the Charlestown Community.”
