Description

From the mid-1930s to the early 1970s, multiple communities emerged at MIT around the development and deployment of a trio of unique machines -- ¿Vannevar Bush's 1931 differential analyzer, Whirlwind, and Apollo -- that have become iconic artifacts in the history of calculation and computing. The goal of this display is to demonstrate the depth of exploration, innovation and contribution that MIT has made to the field of computing through direct experience with these objects, and the concepts and themes that have emerged from these objects and advanced the computing world.
