Description

This oscillograph record camera consists of a metal tube with a frontplatm on one side that connects to an oscilloscope screen, and a viewing hood on the other side. Underneath the tube, there is an attached Polaroid Land camera. There is a shutter release button on the side of the tube. Serial number 723.

This record camera was designed by DuMont Laboratories to fit on standard five-inch cathode ray equipment. The viewing hood on the other end of the viewing equipment allowed users to observe the pattern on the oscilloscope, while the camera attached to the bottom of the viewing tube took images of the screen. This instrument was used with a Tektronix type 514D oscilloscope (1988.058.012.01), and this setup was the first commercial high frequency oscilloscope used at MIT with a camera.
