Description

Wooden box with a handset attached to the outside, and a slide projector and tape recorder on the inside. A paper with "Introduction to Barker Engineering Library / Pick up receiver" attached to the outside.

This was one of two information boxes meant to provide an introduction to Project Intrex (INformation TRansfer EXperiments). This was a series of experimental programs designed to use computers in the library system. Using a time-sharing system with remote access terminals that connected to an IBM 7094, users could browse the library’s catalog and bring up images of microfilmed articles.
