Description

Oscilloscope in a rectangular metal case with a leather handle. The front face has a circular cathode ray tube screen in a felt-lined aperture. The front face also has 10 labeled plastic knobs, and six electrical connectors. Serial No. 5078.

Oscilloscopes (formerly called oscillographs, though this usage is now reserved for instruments that record, not just display) display electrical voltage as a function of time. Though they are used in a variety of industries, this oscilloscope was designed as a general purpose piece of laboratory equipment to analyze electrical circuits by studying the waveform of voltage and current at various points in the circuit.
