Description

This book is the first edition of the Compendium of the Course of Chemical Instruction in the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania. It was written by the American chemist Robert Hare while he was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania's medical school. Though it was initially developed for his students there, the book soon became one of the most widely used chemical textbooks for the mid-nineteenth century. This copy was used by William Barton Rodgers and has his name platen pasted on the flyleaf.
