Description

Etching done in a manner so as to imitate an ink wash drawing, in brown ink, depicting a pastoral landscape with Romanesque ruins, as well as a medieval-style castle in the far left background, and centered around an inlet coming in from the sea. There is a lone figure and a small rowboat in the foreground; in the distance are three grazing cows, and a whale. Artist attibutions and title printed on lower margin: "Published Mar 1st 1777 by John Boydell Engraver in Cheapside. From the original drawing, in the Collection of the Duke of Devonshire."
