Description

Monochrome engraving, with grey shadows added by means of very small dots, of a whale being skinned by men on board a two-masted ship. The skin of the whale is being pulled up by a pulley connected to the spars. At the top of the image is the text "France Maritime.", at the bottom is the title, the artist attributions, and " Tom. 2 Pl. 220".
