Description

Black and white lithograph print depicting the steamers Isaac Newton and Francis Skiddy. Francis Skiddy is shown on the right of the picture, racing with the Isaac Newton between Anthony's Nose and Bear Mountain in the Pallisades area of the Hudson River. She was designed for the day run between New York and Albany and was one of the largest and fastest steamers built for the river. After some years she was converted into a night boat. She struck a rock and was wrecked in 1864.
