Description

A sepia photographic reproduction of a ship portrait of the Pilot Schooner Mary Taylor. The pilot boat was built by Richard Brown and his partner and designed by George Steers. The esteemed naval architect added the innovation that became a standard feature for all boats after the Mary Taylor. The Mary Taylor bestes the entire pilot boat fleet throughout the 1850s. Steers' schooner America was based on the innovations of Mary Taylor.
