Captain Clark sailed the Alice from Nahant to Needles, England accompanied by Charles Appleton Longfellow, Henry R. Stanfield, three seamen, and a Chinese steward. They made the voyage in 19 days, 8 hours, and 50 minutes. The crew was fêted in Cowes. At the time, it was the smallest yacht to cross the Atlantic and recieved popular attention from the press.
