Original pen and ink drawing of the port-side view of first rate ship of the line, HMS 'Royal George.' Faint handwritten inscriptions are visible near the bow and stern. The foresail, mainsail, main topgallant sail are half furled. The fore topgallant sail and spiritsail are tightly furled. Sculptures of men on horseback decorate the head and gun ports are open. British flags fly on masts at the fore and aft. At the time of its launching in 1756, the 'Royal George' was the largest warship of its time. She was the flagship of Sir Admiral Edward Hawke during the Seven Years' War.
