Description

A hand-colored engraving of the naval engagement that is also known as the Defeat of Thurot, which took place 28 February 1760 during the Seven Years' War. French and British are paired in combat in the middle ground. The sails of both fleets are torn with holes from the fired artillery. Three British frigates (Aeolus, Pallas, and Brilliant) defeated three French frigates (Le Maréchal de Belleisle, La Blonde, and Terpsichore). The text at the bottom margin describing the scene is in English and French. Also included are man and firepower statistics of each frigate.
