Description

Colored lithograph depicting a passenger rowboat on the water at Yeddo Bay, Japan; she flies two flags, one with a circular mark and the other with the kanji meaning "three". Other boats in the background. Behind them are the coastal buildings of a port town, with high, semi-forested hills towering over them.

Tori-gasaki is a cape in Japan. "Yeddo" is an anglicization of "Edo", the pre-1868 name for Tokyo. However, Tori-gasaki is in Shimane prefecture, on the opposite side of the island from Tokyo.
