A view of the welcoming party of the first leg of a three-stop, eleven day Irish tour (Cork-Dublin-Belfast) undertaken by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on 2-12 August 1849. The HMS 'Ganges' is shown on the right side of the print. She performs a salute while dressed in flags with sailors manning the yards as the Royal Yacht passing behind it. Another unidentified and dressed warship is on the left. A smaller paddle steamer is in the center-left. In the foreground, men in rowboats wave their hats and cheer their welcome for the royal guests.
