Description

Early modern ship portrait. The dedication is in Italian, and some of its information is summarized by a Clark MS note: "The Bucentaure," known as the "Marvelous Bucentaura," on account of the magnificence of her decorations in gold. Built at Venice in 1610. On board of which the Doge of Venice performed the ceremony of wedding the Adriatic on Ascension Day. Engraving dedicated to Count Marco Trissino by Giusto Sadeler.
