Description

A starboard-broadside view of the screw frigate 'Wabash' commissioned on 18 August 1856. She flies a 36-star American flag above her stern. She was the first of three Navy vessels to bear the name 'Wabash,' and served as the flagship of the Home Squadron from 1856-58 before serving as the flagship of the Mediterranean Squadron until the outbreak of the Civil War.
