A starboard-side view of the New York steamboat 'Francis Skiddy.' The 'Skiddy' ran from Albany to New York daily until 1856 when she was altered and made into a night boat for the Troy Line. The steamboat in this print is before she was altered. She flies a large US flag and a swallowtail banner with her name at her stern. Passengers stand against the railing and enjoy the views of the Hudson River from the deck. In the foreground, a couple leisurely rests on the banks of the river. The man waves a handkerchief at the passing steamboat.
