Description

From the Extra Supplement to The Illustrated London News published July 31, 1875. The print is after a painting O. W. Brierly exhibited at the Exhibition of the Society of Painters in Water Colours. It depicts the HMS 'Vanguard' commanded by William Winter attacking two ships of the Spanish Armada. Spanish defeat was considered a huge breakthrough for the rise of power for England.
