Description
Centerfold illustration from the illustrated newspaper Harper's Weekly, published in New York in 1857. The print depicts the steamship 'Adriatic' viewed at an angle with a crowd of passengers on the upper and lower decks. Figures in a small dinghy in the foreground admire the steamer with their hats raised. The 'Adriatic' was an U.S. Mail trans-Atlantic packet operated by the Collins Line.
