
Apollo 4 Mission, The

Description
This film depicts the preparation, launch (11-9-1967 from Kennedy Space Center) and recovery of the successful flight of the first seven and one-half million pound-thrust Saturn Five vehicle with the Apollo spacecraft. Through animation, the actual course of the flight is portrayed. Launched "all-up" with al three stages active; tested Apollo lunar heat shield at lunar return velocities. Included is color photography from inside the Saturn and spectacular views of the earth from an altitude of 11,000 miles. Duration ca. 15:45. [14:21] (CC)
