Original Caption: "Undergraduates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology advocating making small boat sailing a student activity at the Institute have placed this type Frostbite dinghy in the main lobby. Although many colleges have private sail clubs, under the proposed plan at Technology, the idea, if approved by the student body, would make the Institute the first to establish the sport as recognized undergraduate activity. Inspecting the dinghy are, left to right, Prof. George Owen of the department of naval architecture who has volunteered to give a course in sailing; Dr. Karl T. Compton, president of the Institute who has given his approval to the plans, and John C. Austen of Spokane, WA, president of the senior class."
