Description

Charles Greeley Abbot works with his harmonic analyzer. A chart of observations from the Astrophysical Observatory is displayed on the wall above his table. Stamps on verso read "Technology Review", "Please return to M.I.T. Historical Collections".

Original Caption: "Charles G. Abbot, '94, Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, and the harmonic analyzer he has developed for discovering and evaluating periodicities in solar variation. It is to be used in long range weather forecasting and is another example of the machines tthat are being develped to do the menial work of thinking (see The Review for January, page 171)".
