Louis H. Ahrens uses a tool to shine a light through a lens. A handwritten caption below the photograph reads: "Ahrens, Jackman, Cabot Spec." A strip of paper attached to the back of the photograph indicates that this photograph was used on page 601 of Robert Shrock's book Geology At MIT, Volume 2 (illustration number 184).
