Alumni-Astronauts--Crews presently assigned to Apollo/Saturn V missions include three alumni of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, all of whom did their graduate research work at the M.I.T. Instrumentation Laboratory where the Apollo guidance, navigation and control system was designed and developed. Russell L. Schweickart (left) and David R. Scott (center) are in the crew assigned to the first manned Apollo/Saturn V launching. Edwin E. Aldrin (right) is the command module pilot in the back up crew for the second manned Apollo/Saturn V launching. The three were among crew members who spent several days at the Laboratory recently for familiarization and training on the G&N system."
