Description

This color photograph depicts William Welles Bosworth standing in front of a building. It has been printed as a greeting card, with large bold text 'meilleurs voeux' printed below the image. Around the text and following onto the back of the card, Bosworth has written a note in blue ink thanking "Ed" for the negative of the image. Back includes two MIT Technology Review stamps, one dated June 1964, the other obscured.

Original caption: "Dear 'Ed,' as you remember telling me to call you, this is the way the Kodak Co. here think the best when used as a Christmas Card. Renee and I are deeply appreciative of your great most generous giving us the negative & join in wishing you [arrow indicating over] a healthful enjoyment of 1963 -- & the hope that you will 'slot off often' on your trips to 'the sacred land of Liberty' & that you will let us know in advance, what Hotel you will stop at -- or in so that we won't miss connections.

I am very truly

Welles Bosworth

How do you like leaving out the 'yours.' My great friend John D. Ryn had adapted it -- & I think all the boys are doing it too -- W"

Original caption: "Welles Bosworth '89 architect of the main M. I. T. buildings, observed his 95th birthday on May 9 in France. 'A Note On Excellence' (on page 20) of The Review this month, by Fred G. Fassett, Jr., Dean of Residence, is a tribute to his work."

Used in: Technology Review, June 1964
