Black and white photograph of William S. Brown running in his MIT jersey at the Intercollegiate Track and Field meet at Madison Square Garden, where he broke four running time records. Original caption 1: "Sophomore distance star W. Sumner Brown became the first M.I.T. miler to break 4:20 indoors while establishing a new M.I.T. record of 4:19.7 in the I.C.4A indoor Track and Field Championship at New York's Madison Square Garden on March 7. Brown, who already holds five running records at M.I.T., is potentially the greatest runner that has ever attended M.I.T." Original caption 2: "Sophomore distance star W.
