Description

A view of the differential analyzer machine.

This image is similar to the image that appears Bush's article: "The Differential Analyzer: A New Machine for Solving Differential Equations," Journal of the Franklin Institute, 212 (1931): 447-88. It did not take long to discover how sensitive the mechanisms were to dust, oil and other debris and special wooden boxes were constructed to protect the integrators which are shown exposed in this photograph on the left.
