Glass sculpture of lightbulb, 1937

Description
A large glass structure made to look like a giant light bulb sits on the floor inside a building. This light bulb was made to go on top of the Edison memorial tower in Menlo Park, NJ. Original caption: "Giant Bulb For Edison Memorial. Corning, N.Y. - This giant electric light bulb, 14 feet high, will surmount the $100,000 Edison memorial tower at Menlo Park, New Jersey, in commemoration of the invention of the incandescent electric light by Thomas Alva Edison. The giant bulb, just completed at the Corning Glass Works here, is the first circular case job in the glass industry. More than 6,000 pounds of amber-tinted pyrex glass were fitted over a steel skeleton as an emblematic diadem for the 150-foot beacon tower. H - 11/4/37 (s)."
