Lawrence J. Heidt with his doctoral student Vincent R. Landi, right, using an apparatus to measure reactions in ozone, which they were stabilizing to use in rocket fuel. Original caption: "Usually a very explosive substance, ozone can now be stabilized through a method discovered at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Dr. Lawrence J. Heidt, left, of the Department of Chemistry, and his doctoral student, Mr. Vincent R. Landi. The discovery may make it possible to use ozone safely as a high-engergy rocket fuel additive. Dr. Heidt and Mr. Landi are working apparatus for analyzing the ozone reactions."
