Original caption: "Desalting Discussion President Johnson and his science adviser[sic], Dr. Donald F. Hornig, confer Aug. 5 at the White House. The President instructed Dr. Hornig to push ahead with water desalting programs 'as if you knew you were going to run out of drinking water in the next six months.' Johnson already has suggested desalination as a possible aid in meeting the northeast's drought-caused water shortage."
