Description

Motor-generator sets with auxillary equipment in the Machine Transients Laboratory section within the Dynamo Electric Machinery Laboratory. The generator parts are labelled on the image from bottom left, clockwise: "Exciter, Exciter Drive Motor, Main Drive Motor, Main Generator, Pilot Generator, and Slip Generator".

Original caption: "Plate I, Electric Machine Transients Laboratory, located in the east end of the Dynamo Electric Machinery Laboratory, Room 10-05. The two main units each were motor-generator sets comprising a dc drive motor, a 3-phase 45 - kVA generator, and auxiliary equipment. This laboratory was used by students for experimental theses from approximately 1930 until it was dismantled in the early 1950s."
